Caroline Popper, M.D., has been named president of BCM Technologies Inc., the venture capital subsidiary of Baylor College of Medicine.

She is the founder and president of Popper and Company, a bioscience consulting firm. She has 19 years of hands-on biotech/life sciences operating experience.

“I am enormously enthusiastic about the opportunity I have to work with BCM faculty to create new commercial ventures,” said Popper. “The depth and breadth of the science and discovery at Baylor provides the basis venture creation. My plan is to work with a team of commercialization professionals to build some exciting companies.”

BCM Technologies was established in 1983 as an independent corporation by the College to promote the commercialization of faculty inventions through the licensing of technology and the formation of new companies. Since its formation, it has launched more than 41 companies. Read more about BCM Technologies at http://www.bcmtechnologies.com/.
